Eggs
Over the past month, there has been a continued increase in egg prices. The supply remains constrained due to the ongoing decline in the US egg laying hen population. Additionally, the largest local producer of eggs has opted to increase their prices starting in February to fund the expansion of their farm but has doubled the cost of local eggs to match the US market. We forecast the price of eggs to remain high until supply recovers with the repopulation of egg laying hens nationwide.
Tarrifs
We are working closely with our US shippers and growers to understand the full impact of the recently imposed tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China. We have already confirmed that mushrooms coming from Canada will increase in price by 16% effective immediately. In addition to mushrooms, other items such as avocado, certain berries, citrus, garlic, ginger and other goods are imported and would be subject to the tariffs. We are monitoring the situation as things are changing frequently.
